At Canterbury United Church of Christ, we celebrate the entry of an individual into the community of Christ with baptism. In our joined traditions (United Church of Christ and American Baptist Church), we baptize both infants and mature believers with water. In baptism, a believer makes promises to grow in faith and follow Jesus, and parents make promises to guide and support their child’s Christian faith journey. Then the congregation joyfully promises love, support, and care for the new disciple as they grow in faith.
